I very carefully pointed out the deceptive (I used the word dishonest as well) way that the app was presented (I used the words lack of transparency also), and stated clearly that it was a good app IF you give a pass on the issue I raised. UPDATE-I appreciate the developer’s timely response to my review, although I carefully avoided using the word “scam”, because I don’t believe the app is a scam. The developer knows the rules beforehand and chooses deception over transparency. If the developer reads this, please spare me the whine about Apple rules, etc. If you can swallow the dishonesty you get a good app. I guess developers get a free pass if the app itself is attractive and useful. It’s gotten a very nice review on MacStories but the review did not mention this (to me) rather important fact. You have to subscribe for the app to be useful. Do so and you see a message that you have reached your limit!!! You can test the widgets on this one feed but that’s all. Download it and you see a mostly empty page with instructions to tap the plus sign to add a feed. Sounds like a good app with a free basic level and with premium features available. The description cleverly lists “easy feed discovery and management” as a free feature. Two-article translation and mute filter-are starred to indicate they are premium features. When you read the description in the App Store six main features are listed. Users of Brave Rewards already have options for directly supporting verified publishers both automatically and via tipping BAT.This is a dishonest app. These redirects and proxies track users and degrade publisher brand value and direct reader-publisher relationships. When a user clicks a link in Brave News, the Brave browser fetches directly from the source of the content, so publishers maintain their relationships with readers on their own sites, instead of being forced through a redirect (as does), or compelled to publish through Google’s AMP proxy (for mobile now, all devices soon) or another proprietary proxy. Promoted Content from brands and media partners will flow seamlessly within the Brave News experience and provide readers with relevant content they might not otherwise discover. It provides brands and media partners with a new unit to promote relevant content seamlessly to Brave News readers. Promoted Content is the latest addition to Brave Ads. Daily deals, exclusive discounts, and offers from affiliate partners from our new Brave Offers store will be featured in the Brave News feed. Brave Offers introduces a new e-commerce option for partners, and provides users with a new highly curated shopping experience with a variety of daily deals, technology, and lifestyle products from across the web.
