Profile Īuthor Naoko Takeuchi describes Chibiusa as a precocious person who likes pulling pranks. Takeuchi also noted that the leg-slit on Black Lady's dress was even more revealing in the anime than in the manga, something which shocked her as she had wondered if the slit was going too far in her drawings of Black Lady. Takeuchi struggled with a name for Black Lady, initially calling her "the Black Queen" and retaining her childlike appearance. She calls herself "Sailor Chibiusa Moon" and appears in a uniform slightly different from the one she wears later, most notably including a cape. In the first Picture Diary, Chibiusa is rescued by Sailors Moon and Venus and dreams that night about becoming a "soldier of love and justice" herself. The first appearance of Chibiusa as a Sailor Guardian is in a side story, a year and a half before Sailor Chibi Moon made her debut in the manga. Takeuchi has stated that she did not think much about how Chibiusa's hair would look, besides it having odango like Usagi's hair and being pink and that she used a Chibiusa doll for reference on the hair. The nickname is a combination of chibi (meaning 'small person' or 'small child') and her given name, Usagi.Īdding in Usagi's child to the Sailor Moon storyline, as well as her name, Chibiusa for a chibi (little) Usagi, was the idea of Naoko Takeuchi's editor, Fumio Osano. She is given her nickname to differentiate from the older Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon). She is adopted as a member of her mother's family, using the alias Usagi Tsukino, in the 20th century. She later returns, a few years older, in order to train as a Sailor Guardian herself- Sailor Chibi Moon ( セーラーちびムーン, Sērā Chibi Mūn), translated as "Sailor Mini Moon" in the DIC and Cloverway English adaptations.Ĭhibiusa's birth name and official title is Princess Usagi Small Lady Serenity ( プリンセス・うさぎ S ( スモール ) L ( レディ )セレニティ, Purinsesu Usagi Sumōru Redi Sereniti). She is a small child from the 30th century who time travels to the past to seek help from the Sailor Guardians. She is introduced in Chapter 14, "Conclusion and Commencement, Petite Étrangere", first published in Nakayoshi on July 6, 1993. In the manga, it is strongly implied that Helios will eventually marry Chibiusa and become her "prince.Chibiusa ( ちびうさ, Chibiusa or Chibi-Usa, renamed Rini in the DiC and Cloverway English adaptations) is one of the main characters from the Sailor Moon manga series created by Naoko Takeuchi. Pegasus lends his power to Super Sailor Moon, for use in attacking Lemures, once he has been summoned by Super Sailor Chibi Moon. He protects the Golden Crystal which is on his forehead, this is eventually used by Sailor Chibi Moon rather than Mamoru at the end of the arc. He has to keep some secrets from her at first, but as the series progresses they get to become closer than friends as they share a kiss and a hug in the anime. Pegasus becomes a friend and companion to Chibiusa. He willingly takes the form of Pegasus leaving the shell of his body behind. He becomes Pegasus after being captured by Nehellenia in order to search for a pure dream to live in and takes up residence inside Chibiusa's beautiful dreams. In the anime, Helios plays a major role in the fourth series of Sailor Moon, Supers. He is aware of the existence of it, but it is not in Pegasus's horn, but a part of Mamoru that only Mamoru can wield. While he guards the Elysion, he does not guard the Golden Crystal directly. He can only transport himself between worlds and fight the curse put upon him. He does not lend power to anyone to do attacks, nor can he physically change form himself. Unlike his anime counterpart, Helios also lacks any sort of definitive power. He is seen riding on Pegasus, separate from the body of his favorite horse when he says good-bye to Chibiusa. Thus, Helios is forced to appear to Chibiusa in this form. In the manga, Nehelenia curses Helios into the body of his favorite horse. Pegasus and Helios are two separate characters in the manga, but in the anime they are the same. Helios (エリオス)Pegasus is a winged white unicorn and Helios is the priest of Elysion.
